  Game has been in early access since 2016 and has not received an update since 2019. Devs abandoned it to focus on the quest version.

  I have been a VR gamer since the year 1 anniversary of the Vive. I have had games like Gorn, and Blade & Sorcery since their release, and while i want to like this game, 10 minutes into the tutorial and opening gameplay, it was immediately apparent that the physics (while the Dev claims they have been reworked) are terrible and make me not even want to play. When comparing this to Blade & Sorcery, its not even close. The weapons in B&S feel like they have the right weight and force behind them, and just handle better in general. Even Gorn figured out the rubber weapons physics was better than how this game is. If the Dev fixes the physics, there seems to be tons of content here, and some people may still enjoy it but for me, it was a refund after 10 mins. 5/10

  Smaller steps, awareness of your guardian, and mindfulness about your physical position in your playspace are VITAL. I have joyfully bled for this game figuratively, literally (now), and actually. I have smashed my hands, fingers, arms, legs, broken mirrors, vases, and bookshelves fighting off TWO 800 pound tigers bent on my demise. Immersive? I have a 4 meter by 3 meter guardian and this game still draws me away. Either in go Whole Hog with both swords flashing...or give this well-thought-out title a chance to be subtle. Either way there is depth here. Those who ranker on and on about realism for this GPU or that CPU are clearly missing the entire point. I love this game. It is everything that I could want or need it to be as grown-up kid who studied sword fighting for 10 years in between piano lessons in the 1970's. Times have changed...but parries and thrusts have Not. Kudos to everyone who made this. So much fun. Great workout. Beautiful art. I have the actual scars to prove it.

  You have to kill tigers :( Sometimes the tiger helps you :) You cannot pet it :( There's mods that fixes everything :)

  Have you ever watched [i]Gladiator[/i] and wished that you had been born in 100 AD? Do you wish that you could spend your time fighting for your life before a Roman emperor instead of working for Nationwide Insurance? If so, I'd recommend that you play this game. Gladius is not perfect, but it's the best gladiator experience on the market right now. As I booted up the game, I was immediately impressed by the graphics-- detailed textures and beautiful lighting and fire effects-- and thereby realized that this is a high quality game. I utilized the teleportation system to move around the training area, but walking with the trackpad is an option for people who want a more realistic experience. I discovered upon exploring the training area a collection of weapons and helmets that can be unlocked by beating different challenges in the arena, which does give the game some replay value. Once I picked up the sword and shield and put on the helmet, I was ready to fight. I started round 1... and was literally dumbfounded by the scale of the arena. Granted, the environment is not perfect-- the audience looks like a bunch of cardboard cutouts who raise their hands at the same time in enthusiasm, breaking immersion-- but the arena itself is so huge that it [i]truly feels as if you are there[/i]. The proportions of everything feel correct, and the arena is gorgeous, with godrays coming down from the sky and different structural details that make the world come alive. The enemies come quickly and are relentless, swinging fast with different attacks that challenge your reflexes. To help you, though, the developers have created a feature allowing you to slow time and set up the perfect parry or slash, and they have also made the enemies pause between each attack so you have a chance to launch into a counterattack. The combat feels good, and I am glad it does as it's the focus of the game. There are some problems with hit detection, and there are a few glitches (when my sword hit the tigers, the game made a clink sound as if I were striking at a shield), but the combat is excellent overall and becomes a workout. As the blood splatters on the arena's floor, the audience screams in a wild frenzy, and sweat runs down my face, I remember why I invested in virtual reality in the first place. It's to visit exciting worlds both old and new, interact with the environments, and have fun, and this game checks those boxes. Gladius is a blast!

  PRO + Developer is constantly releasing updates (bought the game on release day) + You feel like you are really in a collusseum + Different Weapons to choose from + Slow motion (always makes you feel badass) + Price is OK CONTRA - Physics still glitchy - Difficult to block AI attacks (i think the attack direction should be easier to see)

  If, like me, you are looking for a realistic sword fighting sim to fully immerse yourself in the Snow Crash VR dystopia experience that is our world today, this is the closest you're going to get. I've tried them all*, and this is my current favorite for best physics engine and most realistic training AI**. Like others have said, it is not perfect, but it is the best out there right now. My one wish is that this game become multiplayer. The blade physics in Deus Vult aren't anywhere near as good, but sadly that is the only multiplayer game in town... * My full list so far, in order of decreasing blade combat realism, is: Gladius, Vanishing Realms, Sword Master VR, Tales of Glory, Death Dojo, Deus Vult, Gorn, and Sairento VR. ** I'm not an expert, but I do have a couple years of mixed martial arts experience with stick fighting. My acid test for a good sim is: Do the attack angles and associated body movements make sense physiologically? Is this game fun to play without a shield? Can I actually block stuff in that case, by watching body cues? Can/do they block me? Can I "defang the snake"? Can I "destroy the line"? This game actually checks all of those boxes, to a first approximation.

  TES: Oblivion Arena VR 100% you must play it topless and scream in the galdiators' faces just before you behead them, and hear the crowds of Roman citizens roar with intensity.

  A Glorious Gory workout! I can only play this game in 20 minute batches before I'm sweating and panting for breath! I don't know what it is about this game, but it makes you want to swing your sword properly, not flail it around like you do in most melee games in VR! Pros: Lots of weapons. LOTS of weapons! Great controls, easy to get a hang of Different enemy types with different tactics adds alot of variety to fighting to keep it from going stale Fighting in the Arena while at the same time pandering to the groud for cheers and gifts is like nothing you've experienced! Different arenas add even more variety Progression and merchent system to keep rewards coming Cons: AI don't pander to the crowd or showboat Some enemies are very 1dimensional Sprint sometimes only sprints a little bit Enemies sometimes don't drop their weapons and they despawn You can never get an enemy shield if you lose (forget) yours Overall : Extremely fun sword fighting that really captures the feeling of being a Gladiator! The first time I chopped a guy's head off to the cheer of the crowd only to have the entire arena roar a chant in time with me raising my arms up and down sent shivers down my spine. I also practically crapped my pants the first time I faced a tiger. They are HUGE!

  I flung a tiger into the air...unbelievably high.
